Vegan Roasted Rutabaga Wraps with Garlic & Cayenne Dressing

2wrap3[1]

Simple and delicious, a fresh and organic recipe. This dish came about on the last day of the week before the new delivery from Riverford comes. The food was somewhat knocked together on a creative (and hopeful) whim, using what ingredients we had left in the fridge / pantry and therefore there isn’t much of a side garnish to accompany.
I am pleased to say it was totally worth getting creative!
Love it when that happens šŸ™‚

To make my Roasted Rutabaga Wraps:

Ingredients:

1/4 Rutabaga (Swede)
A large handful of Purple Sprouting Broccoli florets
2 Large Pointed Cabbage Leaves
Olive Oil
Salt *non organic

Pre-heat the oven. Add a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of salt to a baking tray. Take 1/4 small swede and slice. Chop the broccoli florets away from the stalk. Roast the rutabaga for approx 25 minutes around Gas Mark 6.
After 10-15 minutes add broccoli for a further 10 minutes.

Steam 2 large leaves of pointed cabbage for 3-5 minutes.

To make the dressing:

Ingredients:

4 tsp Olive oil
1/2 tsp Cayenne Pepper
1/4 tsp Black pepper
1 tsp Turmeric
1 clove raw Garlic

Chop the garlic and mix all the ingredients together.

Once the ingredients are cooked and prepared, lay the cabbage leaves onto plate.

Place the sliced swede on them first then add Broccoli.
Drizzle with the dressing.
Wrap one side of the leaf around the contents and then flip in the top followed by the folding of the other side of the leaf.

123done[1]
Gently flip it over. Drizzle with further dressing and garnish to preference.

Grab a knife and fork and enjoy!

Every Day is Earth Day

Be part of theĀ globalĀ optimism. What a beautiful idea.

Planting a seed in collectiveness – what will you be planting? Doing something greenĀ – what are your ideas?

The Maple Tree from last year is now unfurling her leaves into the winds of Spring finally.

Unfurluncurl[1]

We also haveĀ have the front garden covered with sprouting Crimson Clover.

Today the boys and I will be planting the Echinacea we were given at the end of last Summer, we are going to put the seeds in potsĀ inside the home until they areĀ ready to be moved into the garden towards the beginning of June!

Just imagine if everyone did plant something together today! This is a genius plan. Let’s make it happen.

London 420 Cannabis Protest – Speaker’s Corner Hyde Park 2015

front

The Cannabis collectiveĀ were certainly classing up the joint in the beautiful Hyde Park this weekend.

the crowd
A party took place on Saturday evening in London to embrace theĀ gathering that was to follow. The next day, Sunday from 12pm, “we shall not be moved” was sure to beĀ in the thoughts of many of the people at the London 420 picnic in the beautiful Hyde Park. With further demonstrations to take place, Monday 20th April was indeed set to causeĀ someĀ movement in today’s protest at Parliament before election day this year.

ManyĀ of the crowd did sitĀ and stand strong on Sunday, loyal and true as police tried to move supporters out of Hyde Park. During the peaceful picnic yesterday that took place at Speaker’s Corner in London, the Sun’s rays beamed down on thousands of happy people, men, women and children as they set up and gatheredĀ in unityĀ around the trees to end the war on drugs…and more specifically, the current crisis concerning Cannabis use. People from all over the world met up to have their say and to raise awarenessĀ for the rest of the people who are even just the littlest bit curious.

There were several activist organisations including NORML UK + NORML UK Women’s Alliance, United Patients Alliance, Feed The Birds, and London Cannabis Club, even the London Green Party had flyers on the table, this is just to name a few, that came together to make a huge stand for Cannabis freedom and to help educate the nation on the many health benefits of using Cannabis. The drugĀ is healing people all over the World and time is indeed long over due for the United Kingdom catching up.

The Women’s Alliance

There were various speeches given about cannabis, the organisations and future events, they were informative, a pleasure to listen to, witty and down right speaking of the truth!

Signs of true support

Seeds, stickers, bands, badges, flyers, t-shirts, keyrings and more were on offer to enhance the event and for everyone toĀ gain a greaterĀ knowledge of exactly why such a fuss has to be made regarding the laws surroundingĀ Cannabis use.
People showed appreciation for the wonderful plant by firstly igniting a flame within today’s people by initially setting up such a needed event in the UK and sharing the Word. Others helped byĀ hanging up banners, bringing signs with them, dressing up leaf style, even putting on shows later in the day, everyone had a role to act upon that was appreciated by others.Ā This truly was a day of Cannabis freedom. Thank You to All who came.

Cannabis Signs

Raising Cannabis awareness in Hyde Park

Sadly, there was a disgraceful amount of litter left by the crowd again this year,Ā and as the police started to move people out it was apparent just how much. Straight to work went the eco-lovers to clear it all away within 15 minutes, that’s straight up earth love and respect and it shows that weĀ really do care for the common good.

Standing strong and clearing up the mess

The police seemed to be rather interested in all the fuss and even brought along horses and a helicopter as well as the vans. They caused a little bit of a problem whilst man handling a few of the people but that sooned got sorted out appropriately. All in all theĀ law enforcement teamĀ didn’t seem to be bothered much and happily watched on as nearly everyone around them lit up throughout the day. Another sign that Cannabis really ought not to be illegal. Can’t be that bad, right?

VariousĀ people traveled quite some wayĀ to light up in London yesterday.
Many people were over joyed by the fact they could simply ‘skin up’Ā in a parkĀ with no worries. Ā The organisers did a fabulous job with the event and it was breathtaking to see the vast amount of support received.

People in the park

There were also dogs amongĀ the smoke, seeds and brownies for the birds and squirrels who had a fantastic day too! This just goes to show how harmful Cannabis isn’t, to all kinds of species.

When the time reachedĀ 4.20pm there was an uproar that created aĀ beautiful connection between all and the sky above filled with fumes as people united for real change.

4.20pm

Such a peaceful and passion filled day.

The people were gathered through the use of Cannabis well past 7.30pm, even after the event organisers had left. TheyĀ were just peacefully ‘being’ in the park, chilling and enjoying the sunshine, spending some quality time with friends.

Evening supporters

Evening supporters

All in all it was a successful day in showing that a vast number of people are standing for change on this important matter.

Awareness can only be heightened through the passion of those that truly believe. OnĀ SundayĀ all those that attended spoke togetherĀ as One.

Why is 420 called 420 and what does it have to do with Cannabis? Find out in this article.

Thanks for taking the time to read here, please check out all the above organisations that are behind this amazing event for further information on this weekends antics, future events and what help you can give in supporting the legalisation of Cannabis and the movement of the followers near you.

Feed The Bees

SavedPicture-201549211725.jpg

This week I was moved enough to finally take the plunge into organic gardening. It may not look much or be done to gardener’s perfection but it means a lot to me.Ā Out came the spade and reclaimed wood.

SavedPicture-2015414215925.jpg

With the rapid decline in Bees continually rising it would be wise for us all to do everything we can (or at least something) to help stop the crisis.
This week I managed to find some awesomely priced seeds from a Southern retailer.

I chose Crimson Clover.

SavedPicture-2015414215923.jpg
Bees love clover, I love Bees so the front garden is now dedicated to keeping the buzzies happy.

I hope the soil can drain adequately and that I mixed it up right.Ā It will be joyous time to see some flowers growing in one of our gardens.

Peace.

Organic Anti-Candida Spicy Springtime Recipe

SavedPicture-201541418568.jpg

This plate of foodĀ tasted amazing, like a vegetable curry and I just totally winged it so excuse the quantities please!

This dish is to keep Candida overgrowth at bay in a delicious way as well as being great for promoting weight loss.

Swede (Rutabaga) is known to help combat candida as are spices so feel free to add amounts to your taste. Bear in mind that too much swede will write of the weight loss factor in this recipe.

Main dish:

1″ thick small Swede
Small bunch of Purple Sprouting Broccoli (leaves removed)
A few leaves of Spring Greens or 1 small head (depending on the wildness of the crop)
5″ of Leek
2 sticks of Asparagus

Sauce:

1/2 a Cauliflower’s leaves
All the leaves from the Broccoli
A sprinkle of Turmeric
A sprinkle of Cayenne Pepper
A sprinkle of Black Pepper
A sprinkle of Cumin
Approx. 1/2 Ounce Water *non-organic

All vegetables are from Riverford Organic Farm – please visit their site Riverford.co.uk for the freshest food the UK has to offer.

Method:

Wash all the vegetables.
Cut away the leaves for the sauce and put to one side.
Chop the swede, spring greens and leek into small amounts.
Half the asparagus.
Steam all the veg for about 7 minutes.
Remove the veg and drain.
Add the leaves for the sauce, the spices and the water to the blender.
Blend until smooth.
Arrange the vegetables on a plate and decorate with the sauce.
ENJOY!

I really hope you enjoy this dish. I was so happy it tasted like a curry! šŸ™‚
